Madi Lieber - WAGMI WOmen of the Week

Madi Lieber, COO Crypto Chicks

This week we are over the moon excited to feature Madi, COO of Crypto Chicks, which candidly was the first NFT collection I bought into, and still think it’s the best NFT community out there. The Crypto Chicks 10k collection, which launched in September 2021, represents the bold, trendy women of Web3. The women-led leadership team is dedicated to building a global brand and community that empowers women throughout various Web3 journeys. Madi and others took over the brand during a somewhat challenging time and have turned this project around dramatically, to put it lightly, we are BULLISH on this project.

Q. What was the first coin or NFT you bought?

The first coin I ever purchased was bitcoin, then ETH then AVAX. My first NFT was actually a Crypto Chick!

Q. If you were given $1k, what coin or NFT would you be buying more of?

I'd put my mystery $1k into Solana! They've taken a hit just like everything else, but the Solana ecosystem has been lively, the teams building are incredibly committed (having met a lot of them at Solana hacker house), and the chains affordability will likely bring a good volume of new people over. *cue me putting $1k of my real money into Solana as we speak*

Q. Any new crypto, NFT projects, or artists you are excited for?

Yes! On NFT projects/artists, I'm excited for @Illustramanda's new Fenix collection. Many people have probably followed some of the storm that surrounded the original CC founding team and Amanda, but I'm really looking forward to more of the public getting to know her, her story, and her work. We've been working together on a resolution to support her future career and project in the space, which has me very much looking forward to Fenix coming out this summer!

Aside from actual art, I'm constantly blown away by the features @NFTInspect is putting out. They've offered so many fantastic insights about community movement (and subsequently financial movement) in the NFT space that have helped inform my buying decisions and my understanding of community dynamics. It also is being built by somebody close to me, so seeing the behind-the-scenes of a non-NFT project development in the NFT space has been super interesting.

Q. What is a piece of advice you would like to give to others that are just starting out?

I always say that the best time to have started was yesterday - This is true for investing and almost everything else in life! Even if you don't have a lot of free-flowing capital right now to be throwing around, try to invest a little at least every week. $10 or $100 really does add up!

Q. Fav influencer that we should follow?

Fun - @itsmetinx on instagram, she adds so much light to my day. I literally break up my work day by checking her stories between meetings. Not fun but important - I probably consume too much content from Ezra Klein for my mental sanity

Q. Is anything else happening with your own project that our community should know about?

Absolutely! We're going profile by profile to craft exciting opportunities and valuable support structures for women across web3 journeys. For this quarter, we've been focusing on building up our programs around women creatives with 3 core workstreams launched so far

  1. Women Artist Fund - We have a nomination, selection, and purchasing process to dedicate a minimum 5 ETH each quarter to emerging women artists in the NFT space. We purchase pieces, host gallery showings, uplift their stories and voices, build in time for the community to rally around them, and then we actually give the pieces we've purchased away to the community to spread the excitement and visibility impact.

  2. Upcoming Collection - We took a community-based approach to nominate and select women artists for our upcoming 1/1 and generative collections. The selected women artists will be working together to design a cohesive collection, with an output that will be visually similar to a single artist completing the work. We're intentionally pairing artists with strengths in different areas to learn from one another, and we're excited about the opportunity this provides to showcase a number of women artists.

  3. Design Collective - We recognize that the skillsets needed to be successful in web3, the metaverse, and this new version of eCommerce often present a pretty significant barrier to women designers entering the space. But they don't need to! Ensuring that emerging designers and small retailers develop these skillsets and take advantage of the new model will be critical to ensuring they don't get left behind in the upcoming financial opportunities that web3 open up. We're establishing a launch pad cohort learning program that leverages our community, expertise, and partners to take traditional designers into 3D digital wearable designers, with paired IRL goods to match.
