This week we profile our Founder and CEO, Anastasia Dellaccio. Anastasia started WCOIN as a way to educate and bring more women into the Web3 space and furthermore, as crypto regulation continues to take shape, she wanted to make sure that women’s voices were being heard and part of the equation.
Anastasia launched WCOIN in the fall 2021 and hopes to grow the community into a grassroots movement of women and allies that are excited by the future of Web 3 and determined to take action in order to catalyze principled Web3 policy that is inclusive and fair. She is determined to combat crypto misinformation from rhetoric that declares all bitcoin mining as being harmful to the environment (it’s not!) to the idea that all investors are crypto bro’s that make risky and uneducated investment decisions.
Besides her work with WCOIN, Anastasia is the Director of Public Policy and Head of Stakeholder Engagement for Core Scientific, a socially conscious and carbon-neutral bitcoin mining company. Anastasia also helped to launch her family’s artisan, all-natural and authentic Italian gelato business called Dolci Gelati. Her past experience includes working with WeWork, Booz Allen, the UN Foundation, the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations under President Biden, and on both Hillary and Biden’s campaigns. Anastasia is a mom and proof that not all investors in the Web3 industry are crypto Bros!
Q. What was the first coin you bought? Chainlink! I feel for the utility of this coin at a pretty low price point and then fell into the crypto rabbit hole.
Q. If you were gifted $1k, what coin or NFT would you be buying more of? Eth - with the upcoming merge I am HODLing as much as I can and staking my Eth2.0 on Coinbase.
Q. Any new crypto or NFT projects or artists you are buying more of or watching out for? I am constantly buying more Eth and Bitcoin every time it dips. I am also really interested in Layer 2 scaling solutions and K2 rollups. In terms of NFTs, I am waiting for the BFF to drop next week and I am holding onto my friendship bracelet! (I had two and sold one for 1.2 ETH which I used to buy a World of Women Galaxy with! I also just bought a new Crypto Chick which looks like me, that is by far my favorite NFT project, the team and the community are unmatched.
Q. What is a piece of advice you would like to give to others that are just starting out? Read and research everything you can get your hands on. Make educated investment decisions and stick to your gut. Also, remember it’s not a loss until you sell so HODL and hold on to your convictions. We are only in the first inning of Web3 and the game is far from over so strap on a seat belt and get used to the rollercoaster.
Q. Fav influencer/account that we should follow? I have gotten really into podcasts lately and listen to Bankless, Pomp, and Unchained every week. I am also hyper-focused on the state of regulation and pay close attention to communications from Kristin Smith, President, and CEO of the Blockchain Association as well as Tomicah Tillemann, Chief Policy Officer of Haun Ventures.
Q. Anything else happening with your own project that our community should know about? So much! We are just getting started with WCOIN, we are getting our 501.C3 and C4 status currently, are planning a launch party soon, a newsletter, DC startup week participation and so much more so stay tuned and sign up!
